E-commerce: A relatively new channel in the field of one-to-one marketing is the use of Internet (e-commerce), which can empower the craftsperson to sell directly to worldwide customers, reduce overheads and receive increased profit margins directly. However due to lack of education and resources, most craftspeople have not benefited from this medium so far.

Off late, an initiative is being taken by the Government as well as private players to sell handmade products using channels of e-commerce. The UK and USA based fair trade organisations like Oxfam and Traidcraft are acting as intermediaries buying, promoting and distributing craft products. There are several private players selling directly through websites and online portals.

UPID will be conducting Certificate Courses to familiarise Artisans with e-commerce and how to sell their products online.
