Ms. Kshipra Shukla Chairperson of UPIDR
Ms. Kshipra Shukla has redefined design education in Uttar Pradesh as the Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design and Research (UPIDR), the state’s only government-run design institute under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department. Since 2017, she has transformed UPIDR from a modest two-room setup into a sprawling 4-acre campus in Lucknow, featuring modern classrooms and advanced facilities for creative learning.

Ms. Kshipra Shukla’s commitment to artisan empowerment drives UPIDR’s collaborations with programs like One District One Product (ODOP) and Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana (VSSY). These initiatives provide training, design skill development, and marketing strategies to thousands of artisans, uplifting the craft heritage. Her strategic vision has positioned UPIDR as a beacon of job-oriented education for students and artisans alike.
Through her efforts in infrastructure development and faculty investment, Ms. Shukla has established UPIDR as a center of excellence. The institute now supports hundreds of students and large-scale artisan collaborations, with ambitions to become Uttar Pradesh’s first Design University. Her unwavering dedication continues to inspire innovation, empowering the next generation of designers and artisans to shape a vibrant future for Uttar Pradesh.

Under her leadership, UPIDR secured All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approval in 2019 and Board of Technical Education recognition in 2020. These milestones enabled the institute to offer formal undergraduate and diploma programs, unlocking state funding and establishing its credibility. She fostered partnerships with industry leaders, introducing internships, hands-on workshops, and live projects that connect academic learning with real-world design challenges.
