Library collection
The collection Development division (CDD) is responsible for identify, acquisition, processing, organizing & providing access to high quality scholarly resources that meet the designing, Craft education and research needs of the UPIDR –Lucknow fraternity.
The CDD involves evaluating the strengths and weakness of the current collections, assessing the needs of the institute communities and continues effort to finding the most effective interdisciplinary collections to the centres, and departments of institute.
The collection development department performs a central role in the delivery of basic library services as collection development and are constantly in the process of increasing the collection of books on Design, Craft, Apparel, Textile, General and Social sciences discipline.
The book collection of the library consists of text books, reference books back-volumes of periodicals, etc. Books are arranged by decimal numbers using Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme. Each book is assigned a DDC number which represents the subject of the book.
On the shelves, the books are then arranged according to the numbers which are indicated on the spine of the books. Please consult Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to check the availability and location of a book. The library has a very rich collection of two thousand new books and one thousand old and rare books.

E-Resources:
The library has subscribed e-database. Registered users have access to following online databases through intranet.

Its services cover consumer insights, fashion, beauty, interiors lifestyle, food and drink forecasting, data expert advisory.
Users of the library should note that all e-resources subscribed are licensed materials and cannot be shared with outside community as it may lead to copyright/ licence violation.
Reference Books Collection
Reference collection including Encyclopaedias, Dictionaries, Directories, Handbooks etc. and some basic books of general nature are available in the library. These are meant for consultation within the Reading Room.
Circulation Service:
- Reading material borrowing facility is available for the students, research scholars, faculty and other staff.
- Library follows an open access system. Books and other material taken from the stack should not be re-shelved by the readers. These should be left on tables reserved for this purpose. Please remember that a book misplaced is book lost.
- Reference books and loose journals can be borrowed on loan for overnight only. Any issue of the loose journals/ magazines will be issued only after 4:00 PM and returned next day by 10:00 AM.

CCTV Surveillance
The entire KRC (Library) is under CCTV surveillance. The CCTV surveillance system tracks the entry and ensures safety and security for all the stakeholders (faculty members, staff members, students, visitors, etc. Suspicious movement of any person (trespassers) is monitored through CCTV cameras and reported immediately.
Library Membership:
All the students, faculty members and employees of the UPIDR are eligible for membership of the library. At present, library is catering to the information needs of all the users. Library membership form is available in the library.
